On August 15th, a seminar organized by the Foreign Economic Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment was held in Beijing. CPCIF, CNPC, Sinopec, CHN Energy, Peking University among others participated in the meeting. Wang Li, Director of the Research Department of CCAIA, was among the participants. The Foreign Economic Center introduced the review process of the Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) for medium chain chlorinated paraffins. The attending representatives focused on the concentration limit of medium chain chlorinated paraffins in long-chain chlorinated paraffin products, the impact of the ban on medium chain chlorinated paraffins on existing heavy liquid paraffin products and industries, as well as the technical and economic feasibility of controlling the content of C17 and below n-alkanes in domestic paraffin products for in-depth exchanges.
