On June 4th, the Institute of Urban Safety and Environmental Protection of Beijing University of Science and Technology organized a seminar on the mandatory national standard "Technical Safety Specification for Chlorine in Chemical Enterprises" (first draft) in Beijing. Xiao Dan, Director of the First Department of Hazardous Chemicals Supervision of the Emergency Management Department, Huang Yong, representatives from Jiangsu Provincial Emergency Management Department, Shandong Provincial Emergency Management Department, Chemical Safety Association, Hangzhou Dianhua Company, Xinjiang Tianye Company, Xinjiang Zhongtai Company, Qingdao Haiwan Company and other organizations attended the meeting. Zhang Xin, Deputy Director of CCAIA, and Zhang Shoute, Deputy Secretary-General of CCAIA, were also in attendance. The meeting introduced the status of standard formulation, and participants conducted sufficient exchange and discussion around the content of the first draft. Xiao Dan summarized the meeting and requested that modifications and improvements be made based on expert opinions to form a draft for solicitation of opinions as soon as possible. On June 22nd, the standard officially solicited opinions, among which requirements such as enclosed liquid chlorine cylinder workshops, two-tower absorption process for chlorine removal towers, nitrogen oxide emission control, and the installation of mist spray devices on sealed doors and windows of enclosed warehouses differ from the current settings of enterprises. All enterprises should carefully study and put forward opinions and suggestions.
