On April 26th, the Energy Conservation Department and the Raw Materials Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology organized a seminar on mercury free catalysts for acetylene-based PVC. Among the participants were Mu Ying, the second level inspector of the Energy Conservation Department, Han Jingyou, the second level inspector of the Raw Materials Department, Zhuang Xiangning, Deputy Director of the Safety and Environmental Protection Department of CPCIF, Zhang Xin, Vice President of CCAIA, Zhang Shoute, Vice Secretary General of CCAIA, as well as relevant leaders and experts of Xinjiang Zhongtai, Xinjiang Tianye, Shaanxi Beiyuan, Inner Mongolia Ordos Electric Metallurgy, Xinfa Group and Shaanxi Jintai Chemical. Mu Ying introduced the domestic and international situation faced by the performance work of acetylene-based PVC, emphasized the importance of industry associations and enterprises cooperating with the Ministry of Ecology and Environment to jointly carry out the work related to mercury free catalyst technology and economic assessment reports and called for active response to the negotiations of the Sixth Conference of the Parties to the Mercury Convention in 2025. Zhang Xin introduced the progress of research and application of mercury free catalysts in the industry, the main issues, and the next focus of work. The leaders of the participating companies introduced the research and application evaluation of mercury free catalysts in their respective enterprises, and put forward opinions and suggestions on the technology and economic evaluation of mercury free catalysts. Meanwhile, Han Jingyou stressed that efforts should be further intensified to promote industry transformation, upgrading, and sustainable development. Mu Ying provided opinions and suggestions on the negotiation of conventions and environmental health for the evaluation report work.
