On April 3, a workshop on the statistical accounting of raw material energy use in the petrochemical industry was held in Beijing, with over 30 participants from various organizations including the Department of Industry of the National Development and Reform Commission, the National Energy Conservation Center, the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, the China Chlor-Alkali Industry Association, Calcium Carbide Industry Association of China, China Nitrogen Fertilizer Industry Association, the China National Petroleum and Chemical Planning Institute, PetroChina, Sinopec, CNOOC, Sinochem, Shenhua Coal to Liquid, and the China Energy Investment Group. Zhang Xin, the vice president of CCAIA, and Wang Li, the director of CCAIA Research Department, also attended the meeting. The meeting reported on the work carried out by the petrochemical industry regarding the use of raw material energy. The participants had in-depth discussions on the definition scope, measurement methods, and practical operational aspects of statistical reporting of raw material energy use. Dai Fei, the head of the Petrochemical Division of the Department of Industry of the National Development and Reform Commission, summarized the meeting. He emphasized the importance of statistical work on raw material energy use in the petrochemical industry and suggested accelerating the development of industry-unified measurement method standards to promote stable industry development.
