On July 21st, the Foreign Economic and Trade Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment organized a meeting on PFAS restriction proposal response in Beijing, with over 40 attendees from the Raw Materials Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Solid Waste Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, a number of industry associations such as CPCIF, CCAIA, CAFSI, CPIA, BIA, CCPIA, NCIA, and MIAC, as well as production enterprises such as Juhua Group and Dongyue Group, as well as Peking University, Tsinghua University and Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and other scientific research institutions. Among these participants was Wang Li, Director of the Research Department of CCAIA. Ding Ding, Deputy Director of the Foreign Economic Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, and Han Jingyou, Secondary Inspector of the Petrochemical Department of the Raw Materials Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, delivered speeches respectively. Relevant experts were invited to report on the progress of policies and regulations on management of perfluoroalkyl compounds in China, the historical origin and scientific basis of EU PFAS restriction proposals, the analysis of EU PFAS restriction proposals, the submission process and progress of public consultation opinions on EU PFAS restriction proposals. The attending representatives discussed in depth the potential impact of EU PFAS restriction proposals on China's fluorine chemical industry and upstream and downstream sectors, as well as suggestions for response measures.
