On June 29, Solid Waste and Chemicals Management Technology Center (Center), Ministry of Ecology and Environment organized an expert consultation on environmental management guidelines for major hazardous waste industries in the form of an online meeting. Among the participants wereHe Yi, Deputy Director of the Hazardous Waste Management Technology Department of the Center, Sun Shujing, Director of the Ecological Environment Monitoring Center of Liaoning Province and others from Shenyang Academy of Environmental Sciences, Xinjiang Tianye Group, Xinjiang Zhongtai Chemical as well as Zhang Xin, Vice President of the Association. He Yi introduced the relevant situation about the preparation of environmental management guidelines for major hazardous waste industries organized by the Center, which provides support for better hazardous waste management. Whilebriefing the guests on the preparations for environmental management guidelinesof hazardous wastes in the chlor-alkali industry (draft for approval), a delegate of Shenyang Academy of Environmental Sciences which compiles the guidelines had a full discussion with other participating experts. Arrangements for the next step of work were made during that meeting, including furtherimprovement of the guidelinesbased on expert opinions to form a final draft for approval. The Center already released the first batch of relevant industry guidelines and is expected to publish the guidelines of thechlor-alkali industry in the second batch.
